Dr. Ronald Kolanko - Brain Brilliance Neuro Supplement

Order Now

Sale ends Feb 20, 2018

Dr. Ronald Kolanko will be a guest speaker at the upcoming FCA NW regional convention in Panama City Feb 9, 2018 at 10:00 am. Dr, Kolanko has spent over thirty year of researching, developing and rehabbing nervous system disorders. His work, spawned when his own grandson was diagnosed with brain trauma, evolved into producing amazing clinical outcomes for many with neurological conditions. This drove him and some fellow Chiropractors to launch Brain Brilliance, Inc, with a goal to lead the industry on a virtual new pathway for patient care and recovering the health of the nervous system. The US is afflicted with “Disconnect Brain and Central Nervous System Disorders” or leaky brain. Some of the common and ever growing “Disconnect” maladies are:

Disconnect Disorders:
• Chronic Pain
• ADD/ADHD
• Alzheimer
• Anxiety
• Depression
• Memory & Concentration Problems
• Insomnia
• Concussions

Dr. Kolanko's lecture, Rehabilitation of the Brain and Central Nervous System, will discuss the causes of disconnect disorders, how to evaluate patients, treatment protocols and clinical outcomes. Food additives, diet, stress, infections, environmental toxin exposures and trauma take a toll on the blood brain barrier allowing increased permeability (Leaky Brain). This permeability can cause inflammation in the brain resulting in various Disconnect Disorders of the central and peripheral nervous system disorders.  His discussion will also include how to fill nutritional gaps that current, standard-of-care regimens overlook by supplying essential elements for maintaining cellular health in central and peripheral nervous system tissues.

Florida Chiropractic Online Continuing Education Search

As of May 31, 2017 The Florida Board of Chiropractic Medicine approved a change to the statute 64B2-13.004 Continuing Education. The new statute allows for 10 hours on online Chiropractic continuing education. Unfortunately no Chiropractic continuing education provider, that we know of, can meet their new criteria. CE Cruncher recently created an online platform for Chiropractic continuing ed ChiropracticOnlineContinuingEd.com and was excited at the opportunity for Florida DCs. Our CE website does not meet the criteria, but have asked the state along with other companies for a variance to the the rules. We will continue to keep the public aware of the situation and report any progress.

64B2-13.004 (3) Each licensee may elect to obtain no more than ten (10) general hours each biennium of online continuing education. The online courses shall be competence based learning. Online continuing education providers shall comply with the approval process outlined in subsection (5), of this rule.

If you check the State's website for approved Chiropractic continuing education courses online you will find nothing. The new statute also contains the following regulations that pertain to Chiropractic continuing education providers: competency based learning, use the Sharable Content Objective Reference Model (SCORM) for security purposes, include that only the attendee’s registered computer is used for the course, technical assistance available as appropriate to the course format, allow access to the online program to the Board member who is reviewing the course for approval and view other criteria.

More details will be coming soon.

Largest Chiropractic Convention in 2016

The Largest Chiropractic Event of 2016

The Florida Chiropractic Association’s National Event in Orlando August 25 -28th 2016 has evolved into the largest event for Doctors of Chiropractic in the World. The FCA reports over 4,500 attendees including: DCs, LMTs, CAs, vendors, and friends of the profession. No longer just a coveted event for Florida Chiropractors, DCs in attendance traveled from over 45 states for the grand event.

The 4-day spectacular featured heavy hitting speakers from all facets of the Chiropractic profession. The FCA truly provided something for everyone, which is not easy in this profession. A motivational speech from Dr. Patrick Gentempo, Dr. Joseph Mercola discussed natural medicine, sports guru Dr. Spencer Baron showed a few moves, Dr. Carrick explained TBI and PTSD , Dr. Fabio Mancini led a congo line out of one of his classes, and the Acupuncture legend Dr. Paul Jaskoviak detailed practical applications for everyday practice. I have to admit that I have never enjoyed a required course as much as I did with the FCA's panel series. NO more boring power points of materials from years past. Every expert Chiropractor offered real insight and valuable information that made the hours slip away. Over 20 hours of Chiropractic CEs were offered with continuing education credits available in over 40 states, thanks to Texas Chiropractic College.

Eager DCs filled the expo area to find the latest and most innovative products available. New comers, CerviPedic Neck-Relief, offered a new idea in travel pillows that also functioned as a portable cervical traction device. Foot Levelers unveiled their newest orthotics the AM7™ and CPOYA™. Over 400 vendors filled the grand hall with information, demonstrations and much to add to your chiropractic practice.

If you missed this year’s event, not to worry it will be back again in 2017. Impatient for Chiropractic continuing education then check out one of the other FCA’s four regional stretched across Florida in the next twelve months.

FL Chiropractor CE Requirements

Renewal is around the corner (March 31st, 2016) and CE Cruncher wants to make sure that you have all of your Chiropractic CEs completed before the biennium is up.

You can always find courses at CE Cruncher certified for Florida DC CEs, but did you know the other options for obtaining credits according to the Florida Board of Chiropractic Medicine? No, we don't have the option of online courses yet. (CE Cruncher is working on that.) If you dig through the Florida State statutes deep enough alternatives do exist, so we did it for you.

Rule 64B2-13.004 of the Florida Administrative Code (you have to open a word doc to read them) offers other options for Chiropractic Continuing Education in Florida than sitting in a classroom for 40 hours.

Florida Chiropractic Continuing Education Requirements:
Chiropractic Physician’s license renewal needs to include 40 hours of state approved courses:
27 hours of general education
6 hours of record keeping/documentation and coding
2 hours of in ethics and boundaries
2 hours of Florid laws and rules
2 hours of medical errors
1 hour of risk management

If you are a Chiropractor that has an acupuncture certification then you will also need:
2 hours of safety and risk management in acupuncture
2 hours of acupuncture technique
The 4 hours can be obtained as part of 40 required Chiropractic hours

Alternatives to classroom CE hours:
We listed the options below, in our opinion, in the order of plausibility. If you are a member of the Florida Board of Chiropractic Medicine or teach at a Chiropractic College then many of these options are feasible, but for the average Chiropractor only the first one applies.

  1. Board Meeting - If you register and an attend a Florida Board of Chiropractic meeting you will receive 5 hours of risk management. Caveats: you must be there for the entire meeting or 8 hours, sign out at the end and not be present to appear in front of the board for disciplinary or presentation reasons. Upcoming dates
  1. Teach a Seminar - Once a biennium you can receive credit for being an instructor of a board approved continuing education program. You only qualify for credit for the hours that you taught, of the program.
  1. Volunteer to Help the Poor – Earn up to 8 hours of cont ed for each hour worked helping the poor and indigent under Chapter 766 of the Florida Statutes. Basically volunteer at the health department or a non profit with out receiving compensation from the organization or billing any of your services.
  1. Volunteer at a Public School - If you work 80 hours a year for each school year during the biennial license period with out compensation you can earn 10 hours of Chiropractic continuing education and the State of Florida will waive your biennial license renewal fee. This program falls under the Public school volunteer health care practitioner program.
  2. NBCE Grader/Examiner- Receive 7 Florida Chiropractic CE Hours per National Board of Chiropractic Examiners exam and up to 14 per biennium for helping administer the test.

  3. Expert Witness – If you volunteer as an expert witness for case reviews for the Florida Board of Chiropractic Medicine under the Chiropractic Statute Chapter 460, you can obtain 5 hours of risk management  and up to 10 hours per biennium. The board expects a literature survey with the board reviewed cases.
  1. Test Consultant - If the Florida Chiropractic Board uses you as a consultant for the laws and rules portion of the state test you will qualify for 2 hours of laws and rules during that biennium
  1. Former Board Member- If you are no longer a board member but are willing to serve on the Probable Cause Panel Board you can receive all of the 13 required FL Chiropractic CE hours.
  1. Florida Board of Chiropractic Medicine Member – After a nomination and appointment from the governor, serving on the Florida Board of Chiropractic Medicine counts for the 13 required CE Hours.

Always check with the Florida Board of Chiropractic Medicine with questions or up to date information on requirement for Chiropractic continuing education in Florida. Don't forget that now all Florida CE Hours must appear in your CE Broker account to renew your license.

Still need CE classroom hours? You can always check on CE Cruncher for CE hours in Florida and the entire US.

CE Cruncher compiled all of the stats from 2014 with amazing results. We wanted to know more about what sparks a Chiropractor’s interest. Chiropractors are eager to learn, have busy lives and have a need for continuing education. CE Cruncher always strives to fulfill all of those needs by providing more of what Chiropractors want and need. Our 2014 list gave us a vast amount of insight to what DCs are searching.

We thought CE Cruncher’s list could also serve as an indicator for up and coming trends in the professional with techniques, business practices and shifts in identity. Maybe help identify where the profession is headed and what to expect in the future.

Trends:
For the second year in a row kinesiology taping is the most sought after new supportive technique.
Everyone loves a convention. From coast to coast state association conventions brought much interest. Politically the gammet spanned from strong philosophical groups to advanced practice, and everything in between.

Doctors of Chiropractic have a sense of humor. Our Humor section ranked second in interest with non CE pages.

Which Chiropractic Continuing Education Providers garnered the most interest? What news stories spiked DCs interest? So we put together a list of the top interest throughout our website to share what we found and help provide the content that you crave for 2015.

FCPA Chiropractic Convention

Summer marks the end of the school year, time for vacations and the start of the Chiropractic Continuing Education Convention Season. Many State Chiropractic Associations, Chiropractic Colleges, and Chiropractic Organizations hold weekend long convention packed with Chiropractors eager to learn, vendors showing off the news equipment and instructors teaching the latest practice and professional information.

One of the most economical ways to earn Chiropractic CEs can be at a Chiropractic convention. The California Chiropractic Association is hossting their annual convention and Chiropractic Marketplace this summer in San Diego, plus their Chiro CEs are always free to their members. Parker is lighting up Charleston South Carolina in June with their annual summer event. The Logan Alumni Association expects a large gathering at their Midwest Conference and Homecoming June 12-15.

Florida hosts 4 conventions this summer: Florida Chiropractic Society, Florida Chiropractic Association, Florida Chiropractic Physicians Association and the non-political Florida Chiropractic Conventions. The competition is proving to be a benefit with more locations, lowered priced options and new voices in the educational arena.

These Florida Conventions are approved for Chiropractic Conntinuing Education in most states.

Florida Chiropractic Society  June 5-6 Orlando FL 2014 $225 for non-members,  $215 for members, and free for students. 1 day $125 for non-members,  $115 for members
Aug 15-17 in West Palm FL

Florida Chiropractic Conferences – The apolitical newcomer to the Florida scene is offering the first Chiropractic Convention in Tampa FL in over a decade on July 19-20. Under the direction of veteran Chiropractic organizer Lili Montoya the FCC announced 2 conventions - 40 hours - in the next 2 years for $400.

Florida Chiropractic Physicians Association – Rod Lacy, DC has been causing a commotion since the inception of the FCPA, now offering new deals on chiropractic continuing ed almost every week. Currently their next Orlando Seminar July 18-20 offer is for $135. Register for their email list (warning: they send a few emails a week) for their latest bring a friend, out of state, or straight chiropractor special.

Chiropractic Seminar on Vertigo

ChiroClasses.com has announced a new chiropractic seminar, Dealing with the Dizzy Patient, offering DCs the opportunity to receive advanced vertigo training. Dr. Joseph Ferezy author of The Chiropractic Neurological Examination textbook is offering this one day seminar on Saturday October 26th  2013 at Northwestern Health Sciences University in Bloomington Minnesota, certified for 10 hours of chiropractic continuing education.

Dizziness is one of the most common complaints to primary health care professionals.  The most common type of dizziness or true vertigo is Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo (BPPV). This class will focus on some simple procedures to follow to diagnose BPPV from other causes of vertigo, including life threatening ones.

Chiropractors participating in this seminar will learn to diagnose and successfully treat BPPV in their offices. A treatment know as Canalith repositioning, or the Epley Maneuver, will be taught during the course and has been shown to be effective in over 90% of patients with BPPV is some studies. The training also includes use of the patented and FDA approved VertiGone goggles that dramatically increases the accuracy of performing the treatment and yields better results.

Dr. Ferezy course will demonstrate the importance of providing this service to your patients, as well as a new income stream for your Chiropractic practice. Diagnosis codes and CPT codes will be discussed and questions answered about billing procedures. After this event attending Chiropractic Physicians will be able to apply their new skills Monday morning and will receive a Vertigo Training Recognition Award.

The course runs from 8am-6pm and is accredited for Chiropractic CEs in: Iowa, Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Wisconsin. Hours may be applied toward the International Academy of Chiropractic Neurology (IACN) Diplomate Program and Neurology Diplomate Continuing Education. Cost for the seminar is $199 with co-sponsorshipand  registration provided by Northwestern Health Science University.

Our goal from the beginning was to create a place online for Chiropractors and Chiropractic students, straight, mixer or advanced practioners, young or old, solo or group practitioner to save time and energy when looking for Chiropractic Continuing Ed. We also include releveant Chiropractic news and events, a resource for diplomates and association and of course a little humor to round out the site.

TMJ Chiropractic Seminar Tampa FL

Forty Chiropractors expanded their knowledge at the TMJ and the Cervical Spine Seminar with Dr. Mitch Mally on April 13th 2013. The Chiropractic Continuing Education course in Tampa Florida discussed TMJ anatomy, common dysfunctions, and the correlation with the cervical spine. After 4 hours of lecture including X-rays, MRI and DMX imaging of the temporomandibular joint Dr. Mitch Mally demonstrated his style of adjusting with bombastic flare. Dr. Mitch Mally is a well-known Chiropractor, holding extremity seminars all over the US and Europe. His approach is by no means subtle, calling on his martial arts experience with speed and precision.

Chiropractors traveled from Illinois, Pennsylvania, and both coasts of Florida to fill the seats of the seminar. One Chiropractor was overheard saying, “Dr. Mally really knows how to captivate an audience with his dramatic adjusting style.”

When asked about the highlights of the seminar numerous chiropractors mentioned their new confidence in analyzing and adjusting TMJ conditions. Many liked the ideas on how to market their newly learned skills in their Chiropractic Practice to Dentists and Medical Doctors. Over half of the participants had attended a Chiropractic Continuing Education Seminar with Dr. Mally before and remarked that if the opportunity arose they would do it again.

CE Cruncher offered online registration for the seminar along with coffee, tea and Cuban pastries for the participating Chiropractic Physicians.

Chiropractors Registering as DOT Medical Examiner

Chiropractors are among the approved providers that qualify to administer physical exams for commercial drivers and now have the opportunity to become Certified Medical Examiners (CME). Chiropractors are adding DOT Medical Examiner to expand their list of services, provide a potential new patient base, and diversify their revenue stream.

The US Department of Transportation’s Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMSCA) passed regulations last year for Chiropractors and other providers that will require them to become Certified Medical Examiners by May 2014 in order to perform physical exams for commercial drivers.  To help facilitate this the FMSCA created a National Registry of Certified Medical Examiners that went live at the end of last year. Currently only a handful of providers are registered.

Tow truck, tractor trailer, and bus drivers are required to obtain a medical evaluation every 2 years, or less if certain health issues exist to maintain a commercial drivers license (CDL). The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) estimates they will need 40,000 Certified Medical Examiners to provide physical exams for the current 4 million commercial drivers. Plus the new federal guidelines will require the 7 million inactive commercial drivers to have a current exam.

Presently the only requirements for any DC, MD, DO ARNP or PA to qualify to provide a physical exam for a commercial driver’s license is a state license and a clear understanding of the rules and regulations of the FMCSA. The new regulations require providers to take an approved seminar, pass a certification exam and register with the National Registry.

 Steps to take:

1. Register with the National Registry System and receive a unique identifier.

Signing up as a Certified Medical Examiner should not be taken lightly. The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration Guidelines outline the regulations for various health conditions and certain physical requirements that must be maintained to hold a commercial driver’s license. CMEs must agree to keep their accounts with the National Registry current, transmit CMV driver exams performed at least monthly to the FMCSA via the National Registry system and commit to continued training.

2. Complete a PACE Certified DOT Medical Examiner Continuing Education Course.
Pro Health Seminars offers weekend chiropractic continuing education seminars accredited through NUHS that meet the FMCSA National Registry of Certified Medical Examiners (NRCME) guidelines and prepares Chiropractors for the exam.

The ACA in connection with Western States Chiropractic College offers live Chiropractic Seminars and online courses for Chiropractors are available from Team CME and NCRME Training Systems.

3. Take the Medical Examiner Certification Test.

The FMCSA has approved PSI Services to administer the Certified Medical Examiner Test at their testing facilities located in most major metropolitan areas across the US. The cost for the exam is $79.00

4. Continuing Education is required every five years and recertifying by passing the Medical Examiner Certification Test every 10 years

The FMSCA also offers an administrative assistant registration, that will be created soon, to insure that all documentation is properly logged and up to date. They will receive a login and instruction on how to transmit the exam information and update contact information.

Functional Integrated Therapy Institute - FIT Institute

The Functional Integrated Therapy Institute, FIT Institute for short, offers Chiropractic Continuing Education Seminars in Canada and the US. Their mission is to help Chiropractic Physicians improve the management of painful musculoskeletal conditions and sports injuries through practical and applied training programs. They strive to help Chiropractors understand and develop the skills required to treat the real causes of their patients’ problems. The FIT Institute offers a variety of Chiropractic Seminars: Fascial Abrasion Technique (fascial instrumentation), Synergy Performance Taping (kinesiology taping), and Functional Integrated Needling (dry needling).

Facial Abrasion Technique (F.A.T.) tool is a specially designed instrument used to both identify and to treat areas of fascial restriction.  The contoured shape of the instrument allows clinicians to use the tool to scan the body and locate the presence of fascial restrictions.   The same instrument is then used to apply precise pressure to reduce fascial tension.

Synegry Performance Taping will educate Chiropractors to assess their patients for muscle imbalances and learn how to apply Performance Tape using the Performance Taping method, to normalize nervous system activity, balance muscle activation and improve quality of movement for associated exercises.

Functional Integrated Needling is a biomedical approach takes the best of various dry needling modalities and combines them with key lessons and findings derived from Dr. Scappaticci, and Dr. Yun-tao Ma’s combined 60 years of clinical and research experience in the management and treatment of chronic pain and sports injuries.

The FIT Institute is under the direction of Dr. Scappaticci, a 1992 CMCC graduate and completed his Fellowship in Chiropractic Sport Sciences. He practices in Niagara Falls Ontario as well as Toronto Ontario. Dr. Scappaticci is registered with the National Sports Centre of Canada.  He has worked with World Class Track and Field Olympic athletes from several Nations, and has played a role in the last 3 summer Olympics and last 2 winter Olympic games. He is a consulting chiropractor with the Toronto Blue Jays and Toronto Maple Leafs as well as consults with several teams and athletes in the NHL, NFL, NBA, and MLB.

Dr. Edwin Cordero Newly Announced President of Sherman College of Chiropractic

Dr. Edwin Cordero's tenure as President will start Jan 1 2013 at Sherman College of Chiropractic in Spartanburg SC. Dr. Cordero will succeed Dr. Jon Schwartzbauer as the fifth president of the chiropractic college.

“I firmly believe the college has found in Dr. Cordero an outstanding leader who possesses not only vision and passion, but also an individual who has demonstrated over the years his commitment to the chiropractic profession and the vitalistic tenets upon which the profession was built,” says Peter Kevorkian, D.C., chair of the Sherman Board of Trustees

Edwin Cordero DC is a 1993 graduate of Life University’s College of Chiropractic. After graduation Dr. Cordero returned to his native Puerto Rico for a year to practice, but moved a year later to Boynton Beach FL and established Cordero Chiropractic. Professionally he has been a distinguished speaker at chiropractic associations, conferences and other organizations around the world, including Dynamic Essential. In 2011 the Florida Chiropractic Society selected him as "The Chiropractor of The Year". He has been the Team Chiropractor of the Costa Rican Central American Olympic Team for 8 years. He has also participated in numerous Chiropractic Mission Trips to Panama.

“My vision as president is to lead Sherman College in becoming the preeminent chiropractic school in the U.S. and the world, and to strengthen its cultural legacy of outstanding academics, chiropractic philosophy, excellent faculty, technique and research,” claims Dr. Edwin Cirdero.

In May the current President of Sherman College of Chiropractic Dr. Jon Schwartzbauer stated he would be stepping down after 10 years at the educational institution, 5 years as president. The Board of Trustees conducted a nationwide search and in October narrowed it down to 3 applicants: Dr. Cordero, Dr. Joe Donofrio, and Dr. Shawn Powers.

Dr. Donofrio is the current dean of clinical sciences, technique department chairmen and n associate professor at Sherman College of Chiropractic's faculty since 1997. The College stated that he will maintain his current position under the new leadership.

Dr. Powers presents for Parker Seminars, does Chiropractic Business Coaching, provides Chiropractic Seminars and is a founding member of the League of Chiropractic Women. Board President Dr. Kevorkian said the board is trying to find a way for Powers to be involved with Sherman College of Chiropractic.
