Autism rates in the United States are at an all-time high. Some estimates show that as many as 1 in 45 children in the United States are living with autism. Autism is a complex disorder involving many interrelated body systems. In this Chiropractic seminar, Dr. Vreeland will connect the dots and provide information clinicians will be able to use immediately in their practices. He will review the amazing gut-brain connection, mitochondrial function in Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), gastrointestinal dysfunction in ASD and more. This will be done using the latest research and illustrated by case studies from Dr. Vreeland’s practice.

Dr. Vreelanda received a Bachelor of Science in biology with a minor in chemistry at Fairleigh Dickinson University in Madison, New Jersey. He completed his Doctor of Chiropractic at Logan College of Chiropractic. Upon graduation, Dr. Vreeland pursued diplomate status in functional neurology and completed his coursework in 2007. He also holds a Master of Science in human nutrition from the University of Bridgeport and has received advanced training in clinical biochemistry, nutritional biochemistry, clinical nutrition, rehabilitation of balance disorders, and the rehabilitation of ADHD and other learning disorders.

Dr. Vreeland is a nationally recognized speaker, author, and expert in functional medicine. He has worked closely with Biotics Research Corporation to co-develop a line of supplements designed to target neurologic health. These products work by various means, but ultimately target neurotransmitters and the optimal functioning of the receptors in the brain, thereby assisting patients to manage migraine headaches, anxiety, insomnia, depression, dementia, Parkinson’s disease and other neurological conditions.

Dr. Vreeland is the author of a textbook chapter titled "The Gut-Brain Axis: The Role of the Gut in Brain Health,” which was published in 2015 in “Integrative Therapies for Depression: Redefining Models for Assessment, Treatment and Prevention.” His article “Select Nutritional Components to Support Migraine Headaches” was published in the journal Original Internist in 2014.
