Chiropractors’ Role in TN Workers’ Comp Expanded

Chiropractors in Tennessee can now be part of all of the workers' compensation physician panels offered to injured workers, not just the ones with back pain. Currently Tennessee law dictates that employers are required to provide injured employees with a panel of three physicians or surgeons from which the employee may select the treating physician for their work related injuries. For back injuries the panels included a fourth position reserved for a Chiropractor.

The new Tennessee workers’ compensation law requires the employer to provide three or more independent reputable physicians, surgeons, Chiropractors or specialty practice groups for all cases, not just back injuries. Chiropractors in Tennessee have an opportunity to inform the public along with local businesses about the benefits of Chiropractic treatment, cost effectiveness and that Chiropractors treat much more than back pain.

Chiropractors in Tennessee can take advantage of the new law and inform local businesses owners of the advantages and cost effectiveness of Chiropractic treatment.

  • Ask patients about work comp decision makers at their companies to contact
  • Put together a packet of information about your office, include research, flyers and business cards
  • Talk to business owners over lunch and offer to provide safety workshops for employees
  • Add Workers Comp terms to your SEO strategy

Tennessee’s workers’ compensation bill passed the state house and senate last week, signed by the Governor Monday, and the majority of the law goes into effect July 1, 2014.
